中国地球科学联合学术年会的交流方式有大会报告、专题报告等方式。为进一步加强地球科学领域最新学术成果交流，本次学术年会的专题设置采取申请方式。计划设置三类专题：国际专题（英文），综合专题（针对目前研究热点、或国家重大需求问题；涉及多个分支学科）及常规专题。
基本要求：专题申请人必须是地球科学相关专业（副高以上职称）。可多人联合申请专题。
截止日期：2014年4月15日
批准流程：专题申请材料以网上提交方式，提交后由学术委员会讨论、决定。将于2014年5月10日公布专题审定结果，并开始各专题的准备工作。

专题申请材料格式：
(1)专题名称（要求尽量简短、明确，限20字以内）
(2)申请人姓名、单位；至少得联合1-2人申请专题，不受理单个学者的申请。
(3)专题内容简介【200-300字】
简述基本内容，科学研究或国家需求意义，欢迎哪些方面研究人员投稿等。可参考AGU的一个专题描述。
(4)推荐的专题召集人（2-4名）
(5)拟邀请的特邀报告人（一般专题3名以内；国际专题及综合专题6名以内，一般不超过专题投稿数量的10%）

T037: Plate Tectonics on a Convective Mantle: from Crystal-Scale Processes to Global Data and Models

Plate tectonics is the signature of mantle convection on Earth. However, the processes allowing mantle convection to produce plate tectonics, and the extent to which plate tectonics shapes mantle convection, are poorly understood. Significant advances were made recently based on: (1) laboratory and numerical models of convective systems with complex rheologies; (2) studies of the coupling between chemical and physical processes in the mantle and (3) feedback between crystal-scale phenomena and large-scale properties, and (4) new geophysical and geochemical data on the interactions between plates and the convective mantle. This multidisciplinary session invites contributions on all these questions.
